This Is Why People Think Crosby is a Loser

I have to admit, sometimes I don't get the blind hatred for Sidney Crosby. He is a great hockey player and a respected leader of his teams. Recently he's even proven to be clutch. Let's just admit it, mmkay? So when people whine "Crysby" this and "whiny little baby" that, I often shrug my shoulders and go "meh." Maybe it's just the hockey fan in me. But then a moment like tonight's comes along, and I am reminded why people think Sidney Crosby is a loser.

Now, the replay cuts in before we can see what incited #87, so the video is sort of lacking context. But short of Zetterberg slicing Crosby's first-born son to pieces - an impossibility considering that Crosby still lives with uncle Mario - context cannot explain the extent of this childish behavior. All that can explain it is "loserness."

The game is over. Zetterberg's back is turned. Accept defeat and move along. Don't cross-check a guy from behind to start a pointless fight. Ovechkin gets all the grief these days for being "dirty" and "reckless," but he'd never react to a loss like such a sore loser. You'd also never see Ovechkin joining a fight he wasn't involved in...

...nor would you see Ovechkin jump and sucker punch a guy before a face-off (start at 0:36 mark):

I mean really. What a joke. So thank you, Mr. Crosby, for reminding me why I'm supposed to hate you. It'll make Ovechkin's inevitable triumph over you that much sweeter. I'm not even afraid of the jinx anymore. Ovechkin eats jinxes for breakfast and craps victory.

  4. Reminds me of Malkin vs. Zetterbgerg after the final whistle of Game 2 in the Stanley Cup last year. Only difference is in that situation Malkin swung his stick around like a raging lunatic.

  5. Crosby = Stanley Cup winner and Olympic Gold Medal winner. What are Chokevechkin's winning credentials? LOL When the Crapitals lose this spring again maybe the hockey ignorant bandwagon jumping crowd in DC will finally see the light. Chokevechkin only plays for the Craps and eats steroids for breakfast.

  6. Oh man, where to begin! That Anonymous post just made my evening.

Firstly, you post as Anonymous and attack, reminds me of the sucker puncher you are defending....

Secondly, bandwagon Caps fans? If you are a Penguins fan, that is complete hypocrisy. The Pens were on the brink of failure (being forced to leave Pittsburgh) before the lottery balls bounced their way in the Crosby draft. Every city gets an upswing from their team being good, but Caps fans stuck with the team through bad times and the same can't be said for Shitsburgh.

Thirdly, a wild steroid accusation is not worth the cyberspace I am typing in right now.

Fourthly, Crosby was a part of the most ridiculous group of hockey talent ever assembled, so let's not give him all the credit for leading that team. Is Rick Nash such a winner too because he plays for Team Canada?

  9. In the off chance you've decided to stop shitting on your keyboard, here's somethin' for ya. Per the Washington Capitals:

"As part of the NHL’s drug policy, Capitals players are randomly tested up to three times per year by an independent testing agency, which sends the samples to the World Anti Doping Association for testing. Capitals players have been tested twice so far this year. At no time in our history has a Capitals player ever tested positive."

Not to mention the unbelievably strict Olympic drug testing that oh so many Caps players were subject to.

Ovechkin uses steroids? I think steroids use Ovechkin.

  10. @ Marion's Crackpipe " Caps fans stuck with the team through bad times" LOL!!!! This garbage franchise as recently as the start of 2007-2008 was playing in front of an empty Verizon Center. Fans in Winnipeg, Hamilton etc... had this franchise moving to Canada in the future. FACT: The Washington Capitals in existence since the 1974-1975 season have never turned a profit.Since 1998, Slob owner Ted Leonsis has lost $100 million dollars on this NHL's version of the Titanic.Go back and watch the NFL & the Redskins because hockey isn't anything you understand anyway.

  11. Cheap-shots and hypocrisy...Crosby is that you?!?!

    ReplyDelete
  12. Caps have never been close to moving. We also have not had 1 Stanley Cup or even particularly good teams in the past 20 years or so to drive our optimism (the one cup appearance was fluky and everyone knew we had no chance). Our attendance figures have been right in line with everyone else
    http://www.andrewsstarspage.com/index.php/site/comments/nhl_average_attendance_since_1989_90/118-2008-09

Maybe some disillusioned folks in Winnipeg thought a team was coming, but the Pens were universally known to almost have moved:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pittsburgh_Penguins

Caps a titanic? Let's resort to hyperbole! The whole NHL bleeds money, as do most big-4 sports teams; you may recall a lockout....Year-to-year, teams lose money, but team value goes up, it's weird, but true. I'm sure the Caps have lost a ton of money over the years, but that hardly makes them different from any other team. Good luck finding actual figures on this by the way, everyone lies on both sides for tax benefits and negotiating leverage.

All in all, Pens fans have exhibited far more bandwagon behavior than Caps fans, despite having little else to do in Shitsburgh.

  13. @Marion's Crackpipe Never heard of the "Save the Caps" 1982 campaign started by recently deceased owner Abe Pollin who used this franchise as an arena date filler? I guess you were either too young, not born yet or jumped the Crapitals bandwagon just two years ago? There's little to do in Winnipeg, Hamilton & Quebec City too, but unlike the joke that is Washington DC the people in those cities actually like hockey and don't jump off and on the bandwagon and then try to find the next fad. Washington DC SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  17. Wow is all I can say! I grew up in Pittsburgh, and have been a fan for as long as I can remember. While there are those "band wagon" fans, for the most part, Pittsburgh fans bleed black and gold. Holds true for the Pens, the Steelers and even the Pirates. Being a fan of the game (hockey) is way different than being a fan of the team! While I have watched Crosby do numerous things that have made me think HUH?? I have also been in awe of his talent. I think the bottom line here is that the "kid" has talent... he needs to grow up! Just my opinion!

  18. Turd is the perfect word for Crosby.

  19. Please anyone who thinks that all players don't have a mean streak on the ice are dillusional. At least Crosby cares about winning and spending hours trying to think of ridiculously stupid goal celebrations...Oh my god his stick is on fire...stupid. Maybe if Ovie ever learns to care about anything but his ego the Caps have a chance to get somewhere in the post season. Sadly I don't see that anytime soon. Best part when he thinks he can win somewhere else he will ditch your town and find somewhere he thinks he can win.

"Sigh." Pretty amazing the energy some people will put into getting the last word on an impromptu blog post-comment-string argument is borderline neurotic albeit entertaining. The "Washington DC SUCKS (He exclaims)" comment gets the Retarded Valience award, probably at the cost of breaking [Shift + 1] function. Keep on fighting the good fight.

That little ditty that plays at the end of every Looney Tunes cartoon is sounding off in my head right now... Guess that means the shows over. On the plus side Anon. you can get back to your evening workout routine playing DDR at the local arcade.

  27. "...nor would you see Ovechkin jump and sucker punch a guy before a face-off "

good point. he would never drop his gloves.. ever. he is Matt Cooke with a wicked shot. Wants to injure players and wont take his medicine.

    heres a doozie:

""As part of the NHL’s drug policy, Capitals players are randomly tested up to three times per year by an independent testing agency, which sends the samples to the World Anti Doping Association for testing. Capitals players have been tested twice so far this year. At no time in our history has a Capitals player ever tested positive."

uh huh. No one has ever used masking agents in pro sports? AND>>>>>>>

THERE IS NO TEST FOR HGH.. HUMAN GROWTH HORMONE. Know anyone who put on 15 lbs of muscle in two months last summer? Take your time, think it over. Smoke leads to fire nine times out of ten.

    Just saying.

  28. I can't believe any Crapitals fan has the nerve to call any Pens fan a bandwagon jumper. Where were you a couple years ago? Pens have been selling out the Mellon Arena for almost 2 years straight, and before that at near capacity if not sold out, and always maintained a crowd even through the lean years.

As far as the statement about Crosby, if anyone reading this article can even fathom the effort he puts into every game, every shift and the fact that he is targeted every game, I think he's well within his right to stick up for himself. At least Crosby responds to his aggressors unlike Ovenchicken who initiates everything, and somehow manages to get away with a cheap shot from time to time. The retarded Caveman has no leadership capabilities and yet he's now "Captain Craptial"

KEEP IN MIND..........PENS 3, CRAPITALS 0. SEE YINZ IN THE PLAYOFFS

    ReplyDelete
  29. There is a difference between sticking up for yourself and acting like a sore loser. There is also a difference between sticking up for yourself and cheap-shot punches as demonstrated in the latter two videos. That's unjustifiable behavior. It's cowardly.

Calling Ovechkin an "initiator" only is short-sighted and ignorant. He is a punisher.

Notwithstanding your misguided comment, thanks for stopping by. Give yourself a commenter name and come back during the playoffs!

  30. There is nothing about being a Canadian that is embarassing... I agree that that Crosby needs to grow up, but in all honesty he is 22. I mean when has he had time to grow up? He is a good player.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Whoever did this article has never played hockey, or knows how it's played. You dig up 3 "cheap shots" and say Sid should grow up. Do some research and see how many "cheap shots" he takes or better yet look at all the players in the NHL and see how many "cheap shots" they commit. It's called hockey and they don't play by the Marquois Of Queensberry Rules!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I played hockey, and players who behaved like this had reputations as turds. If you're saying Sid's behavior is understandable because he takes cheapshots, you have a thin point only with the first video, and nothing to stand on with the other two. Third man in, punching a guy in the balls...and then jumping a guy before he even knows a fight is on? That's not hockey, that's inexcusable cowardice. If you played hockey, you should know that. Unless you're a turd too.

    ReplyDelete
  33. At The author of this article open your F##king eyes zetterberg never had his back turned, plus if anyone hit from behind howard hit Crosby from behind you Jack A$$. Why don't all You Caps fans stop your whining and actually pay attention to how hockey is really supposed to be played, as far as bandwagoners i have been a pens fan since 89-90 and never turned my back on them once been through the bad and good, and as far as whoever said shitsburgh count the trophies Bitch city of champions. ohh and red rover watch the video closer the guy moved while sid was punching him in the stomach, he put himself in that situation, owe and jumping a guy before he knows there is a fight, thats how 90% of the fights in hockey start i have seen ovechkin do it almost everytime and from behindif anyone is a turd its all you caps crybabies

    ReplyDelete
  34. More Pens fans have commented on this than Caps fans. Don't you guys have anything better to do than roam around DC sports blogs? Avert your focus to the playoff race. I'll refrain from commenting on Pensblog about the Crapitals and Ovenchicken. Like I always have.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Habs win!! Chokevechkin shows his true colors again. And Crosby leads the playoffs in scoring. I think this argument is settled for the time being. Crosby 3, Ovechkin 0. BOOOM!
